Towards the end of 2022, one of our clients who supplies mining spares and equipment into the Zambia-Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) Copper belt region, approached us regarding an EXW shipping solution from Australia and China to the DRC.
The client’s shipment challenge
They wanted to find a solution that would allow them to transport larger loads via South Africa to the DRC without having to pay customs VAT and without compromising delivery timelines.
The M6T solution
Our team was able to propose two handling solutions:
- M6T can process a Removal-In-Transit (RIT) entry on arrival at port of entry (OR Tambo and Durban) and immediately transfer cargo onto DRC-bound transport, and
- M6T can process Warehouse (WE) Entries into a bonded warehouse and then clearing it our once the customer is ready to load the shipment onto DRC-bound trucks.
Results
With suppliers located in Perth, Melbourne (Australia), and Chongqing (China), M6T started out with the RIT shipments followed by bonded warehousing, all of which went incident-free. This result ended up increasing the shipments through M6T four-fold over the past six months, with standing orders constantly in the pipe-line, pending readiness at suppliers for both air freight and ocean freight (LCL and FCL).

As our client constantly travels within the SADC region and the Far East, they have peace of mind when coming to their shipments.
